History

SAL was first formed in 1990 and was a vision of forward thinking Asian legal professionals who wanted a voice for the Asian legal community, as well as a forum to discuss important and relevant issues. Moreover, they wanted to create a networking hub for like-minded individuals.

Since then, SAL has gone from strength to strength, increasing its profile within the Legal community as well as within the Asian community. In the past SAL has been involved with the Newham Asian Women’s Project, the Loombha Trust and other similar community projects. They have been featured in the Asian and Legal press, including Eastern Eye, Asian Voice, The Times and the Law Society’s Gazette.

Today, SAL continues to be involved in high profile and far-reaching issues on behalf of its members and the wider community. For details of our recent Projects and Campaigns, please see our Campaigns section.
